You would need to obtain a Bill Guarantor to avoid paying a cash deposit to reconnect your service. A Bill Guarantor is a friend or relative who has a current account with PG&E. The Guarantor must be willing to guarantee the full amount of your deposit. The Guarantor must meet the following criteria:
- A history of at least 12 consecutive months of service with no more than two 48-hour notices
- Must never have had their service shut off for non-payment
- Cannot have more than two returned checks
The Guarantor can go to any Pacific Gas and Electric Company local office or call 1-800-743-5000 to complete the paperwork. It is not necessary for you to accompany the Guarantor, however, you need to provide the Guarantor with your PG&E account number.
