If you are a new or former PG&E residential customer, and would like to schedule a date online to start service, simply do the following:
- Go to Start or Stop Service.
- (If you are a current PG&E residential customer, go to current the PG&E residential customer section below).
- Select New to PG&E.
- Select Residential.
- Enter your Name and Identification information.
- Enter the address where you want to start service and select the correct address from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your start date.
- If a deposit is required, your deposit can be waived by enrolling in In Lieu of Deposit.
- Select your preferred electric rate. If you are unsure which rate would be best for you, review your rate options on our Electric Rates Page.
- To optionally enroll in the SmartRateTM program, select the SmartRateTM checkbox
- Provide your account details.
- If you optionally enrolled in the SmartRateTM program, provide your contact method(s) to receive SmartDayTM Alerts.
- To automatically pay your monthly bill online, set up Recurring Payments. You will set up once your account is verified.
- Review the confirmation page and select Submit to accept or select the Back button to make changes.
- Email confirmations will be sent to you once you click Submit.
- Complete your registration by verifying your account.
- If setting up Recurring Payments, after completing your registration, select Yes, Set Up Now and follow the Recurring Payment steps.
- If you believe you qualify for the Medical Baseline Program or CARE discount, please complete those applications at this time to ensure you are paying the lowest rate possible.
If you are a current PG&E residential customer:
- Go to Start or Stop Service.
- Select Existing Customer.
- Sign in to Your Account. If you are not registered for Your Account, you may use the Visitor feature by selecting Visitor on the Sign In page.
- For the Visitor feature, enter your PG&E account number, meter number and the last four digits of your Social Security number OR your last name, zip code, meter number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Scroll down to Service Requests and select Start or Stop Service.
- Select Add Another Address to start service for a different address.
- Enter the address where you want to start service and select the correct address from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your start date.
- Select your preferred electric rate.
- To optionally enroll in the SmartRateTM program, select the SmartRateTM checkbox
- Verify your account details.
- If you optionally enrolled in the SmartRateTM program, provide your contact method(s) to receive SmartDayTM Alerts.
- To automatically pay your monthly bill online, set up Recurring Payments and provide your Recurring Payment information.
- Review the confirmation page and select Submit to accept or select the Back button to make changes.
- Email confirmations will be sent to you once you click Submit.
