New NEM residential customers receive a Welcome Kit by email approximately 2 weeks after solar interconnection/PTO. We'll send it by mail if no email address is available. You can also download a copy.
The solar billing transition generally takes 1 to 2 billing cycles to update. Please allow time for your bill to reflect your status as a NEM customer.
Following your Welcome Kit, you'll receive a series of communications your first year, including information about what you can expect from your first True-Up statement.
Here's a sample of what you may see with an estimate of your True-Up balance based on your last bill:
At month 12, you'll receive your annual True-Up statement for the electricity your home consumed above your solar system's production. We also pay you market value for any balance of surplus energy that you have at the end of your 12-month billing cycle.
Customers who turn in their application between April 15, 2023 and December 31, 2023 (subject to change) will start service on a NEM2 rate. Starting in 2024, PG&E will begin transitioning customers to the Net Billing Tariff. When you are transitioned, you will receive a forced True Up bill for your usage up to your transition date and then will move to monthly True Up statements.
Note: Customers with CCAs or NEMA don't qualify for Net Surplus Compensation
