Customers are charged a $4.60 Return to Maker (RTM) fee for each check or ACH payment that is returned. Additionally, after the first occurrence, the PG&E account cannot accept an ACH or check payment for 30 days; you will need to pay with a credit or debit card, or in person at a neighborhood payment center. If another payment is returned within one year of the first, the account will need to be paid in person at a neighborhood payment center or using a credit or debit card for one year after the second returned payment.
Example: January 3, 2022 an ACH payment is returned. $4.60 fee is charged to the PG&E account and the account needs to be paid using a credit or debit card or in person at a neighborhood payment center until February 3, 2022. May 12, 2022 a second ACH payment is returned. $4.60 fee is charged to the PG&E account and the account needs to be paid using a credit or debit card or in person at a neighborhood payment center until May 13, 2023.
