You can discontinue your PG&E residential service online quickly and easily.
To discontinue service, you'll need to do the following:
- Sign in to Your Account. If you are not registered for Your Account, you may use the Visitor feature by selecting Visitor on the Sign In page.
- For the Visitor feature, enter your PG&E account number, the last four digits of your Social Security number, and your meter number OR your last name, zip code, last four digits of your Social Security number and your meter number.
- Scroll down and select Service Requests
- Select Start or Stop Service.
- Select Stop Service
- Enter the date you will last be responsible for the usage at the address.
- Service will be billed to your name until end-of-day (11:59 p.m.) on the selected date.
- NOTE: As a courtesy to the incoming owner/tenant, PG&E does not turn off services immediately, but you will stop being responsible for the usage after this date.
- Service will be billed to your name until end-of-day (11:59 p.m.) on the selected date.
- Verify your stop service address.
- If the stop service address has gas only service, gas and electric services, or you are removing gas appliances, or cleaning with flammable solvents:
- Answer the safety questions for your stop service address.
- Select your appointment date and preferred time.
- If the stop service address has solar, electric only service, or you are not removing gas appliances, or cleaning with flammable solvents:
- Enter your stop service date.
- If the stop service address has gas only service, gas and electric services, or you are removing gas appliances, or cleaning with flammable solvents:
- Verify or change your email address, phone number, and mailing address. Your final bill will be mailed to this address. If you are receiving E-Bills, your final bill will be emailed to you.
- Review the confirmation page and select Submit to accept or select Back button to make changes.
- An email confirmation will sent to you once you click Submit.
