In the Summer, we recommend keeping A/C thermostats set at 78 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when home, health permitting. Every degree above 78 represents approximately 2% savings on cooling costs.
In the Winter, we recommend you set your furnace thermostat to 68 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Three to five percent more energy is used for each degree you set your furnace above 68.
