You can tell if a power outage is due to a fuse, GFI switch or breaker if you only have loss of power to certain appliance or specific area of your home. This is referred to as a "partial outage."
The easiest way to troubleshoot this type of outage is to locate the GFI switch closest to the appliance or circuit the appliance is on. GFI switches (also known as ground fault circuit interrupters) are often located in areas of your home such as a bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, or garage.
To locate a tripped GFI, look for an outlet that contains two buttons: test and reset. Press the reset button to push it back into place, if it has popped out.
If you still have a partial outage, next check the circuit breaker and fuse. Visit Turning Your Electricity On and Off for next steps.
