As part of California’s efforts to fight climate change, the State requires power plants and other large industries that emit greenhouse gasses to buy carbon pollution permits. The California Climate Credit is your share of payments from the State’s program.
The California Climate Credit is applied twice per year to residential customers’ electric bills and once per year to residential customers’ gas bills. Typically, the electric credit is applied each April and October, and the gas credit is applied each April.
