PG&E strongly encouraged the new owners to continue a relationship with the Predatory Bird Research Group from the University of California, Santa Cruz, to maintain the hospitable conditions and protections afforded the falcons should they choose to continue to nest at 77 Beale. The peregrine falcon's fully protected status in California also prohibits harassment or harm of the adults or chicks; however this applies only to actively nesting birds. We have worked with the Predatory Bird Research Group to help emphasize to the new owners the benefits of continuing to host the nests and monitor the birds.
