The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requires that all gas utilities in the state conduct safety inspections. PG&E will perform gas safety inspections, maintenance, and repairs periodically every one to three years. These inspections will be done at no cost to you.
If PG&E is unable to access your gas meter for the following reasons:
- Dog loose in yard
- Meter blocked or overgrown
- Gate locked
- Meter located inside home or garage
You will be left with an Orange Notice requesting that you call the contact center at 1-800-743-5000 to schedule an appointment for the inspection.
If you believe you have received a duplicate notice or that the safety inspection has already been completed, please contact 1-800-222-0232 or email email@example.com for clarification.
